Rocky Raccoon

The song Rocky Raccoon by the Beatles has a very cliche portrayal of the west. The song is about a guy name Rocky Raccoon and he had the girl he fancied get taken by another man named. Rocky then gets so upset and they meet at the saloon and have a showdown. But Rocky loses and dies (at least it seems as if he dies from the gunshot). This is the typical idea implanted into the minds of people. This did happen though. There was barely any law in the wild west and the main population of the west was men. As you know there is something with men when there are too many in an area, they feel the need to fight. So having a showdown with guns was a common thing. I'm sure if a women was stolen from another man it was an especially big deal due to the fact that there wasn't a good men to women ratio. So in all i feel that even though this is a very typical thing of the west it is accurate in the fact that this stuff did happen then, maybe not as often as we wish to believe, but all myths/ideas have to come from some sort of truth right?
